Columbia Engineering Executive Education, in collaboration with Fullstack Academy, has launched the AI Automation Bootcamp, a 15-week, part-time program designed to help professionals move beyond using AI for individual tasks and learn how to build automated workflows that address real business needs. The program combines live, interactive online learning and hands-on projects, equipping learners with practical skills to identify automation opportunities, connect business applications, and build AI-powered workflows without extensive development work.

As AI becomes increasingly embedded in the way organizations operate, the focus is shifting from experimenting with individual tools to redesigning workflows and making AI a more practical part of everyday work. According to the Global AI Report, AI-skilled workers earn a 62% wage premium globally. These developments point to a growing need for professionals who can translate AI capabilities into useful, reliable workflows. The AI Automation Bootcamp is designed to help learners build these skills, from identifying suitable tasks for automation to integrating applications and measuring the business value of their solutions.

The program takes learners through the AI automation lifecycle, beginning with identifying high-value automation opportunities and converting prompts and standard operating procedures into reliable AI workflows. Learners will explore no-code automation, multi-step workflow design, business data integration, APIs and webhooks, and the development of AI assistants and agentic workflows. The curriculum also covers human-in-the-loop design, AI governance, risk controls, and methods to measure return on investment (ROI). Through practical exercises, learners will work with tools including n8n, Make, Zapier, ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, and other commonly used business applications.

Commenting on the partnership, Kelly McCollum, Director of Student Experience & Success at Fullstack Academy, said, “For many professionals, the next step in working with AI is moving beyond prompts and learning how to make workflows function reliably from beginning to end. That means understanding how applications connect, how information moves between systems, and where human oversight is needed to keep processes accurate and accountable. Our focus is on making this learning practical, so learners can build, test, and evaluate automations that address genuine business challenges and demonstrate the value of what they have created.”

The hands-on learning experience spans 17+ tools, 10+ projects, and 12 case studies, giving learners opportunities to apply their knowledge to business scenarios across customer support, sales, and operations. Projects include building an automated service request intake and routing workflow, developing customer support agents that require human approval for sensitive actions, and creating governance and ROI frameworks for automation initiatives. The bootcamp is designed for non-technical professionals exploring a career in AI, existing AI users looking to move beyond individual prompts, professionals whose teams are adopting AI, and technology professionals. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a certificate of completion from Columbia Engineering Executive Education and Fullstack Academy.
