How Fullstack Academy Helped Tyler Woyshner Launch a Career in Software Engineering

Can't say enough think good things about career success, but it is, you know, you have to do the work. You have to put in the work yourself and reach out and, you know, take the advice they're giving you and actually implement it. So I am a civil engineering background as well. I graduated college in twenty fifteen, so quite a while ago. About eight years, I worked as a reliability engineer. Created a lot of pattern recognition models for monitoring power plant equipment. So I used a really cool software, but I never got to see the software side of it. But for about eight years, did that. I did the software boot camp last year, graduated in September. With the help of Maggie and the career coaches, I was able to transition into a software engineering position at that same company. So I'm now working on the software that I was actually using to build models in the past. So really cool experience, really cool transition. We got to about month four or five of our boot camp, and we started into the data structures and algorithms. And we were feeling really good before we got there, and then we got to data structures algorithms, and we just hit a wall. We were like, this is a we're basically learning a brand new language, something we've never seen before, and it really was disorienting and it was a little disheartening after all the hard work we put in. So that's how Blockcode was kind of launched. So Blockcode is an interactive coding interface that basically helps new and intermediate coders, even advanced coders, learn how to solve coding interview problems in a really interactive and fun way. Engineering of any kind is problem solving. Right? Like, you're always gonna run into a problem. But the good news is, especially in today's age, somebody else has already run into that problem, probably multiple people. So you can do your research, you can learn, you can there's so many different resources out there, you know, Google Stack Overflow. Yes. The AI are definitely helpful. You have to be careful, obviously, with them. But like like I said, there are so many different ways that you can learn from other people's experiences so you can kinda hop over those mistakes that you're eventually and ultimately gonna make. I'll shout out, career success, you know, at any day of the week. It's at the end of the day, no matter what you're doing, right, you get out what you put in. So if you're putting effort into this and, like said, reaching out to people, you're gonna get a lot more out of it. But career success has been I can't say enough good things about it. I started reaching out, to Maggie actually probably three or four months into my boot camp. So before it was over, and I started setting up weekly meetings just saying like, hey, what do I what do I even need to do to start? So she helped me through everything. She helped me set up my LinkedIn. She helped me, you know, apply to jobs. She helped me prepare for some interviews I had and bombed. She helped helped me prepare for everything. She helped me get an internship when I graduated. She ultimately helped me get my new position at my new job, and she's been the biggest supporter of Block Code out of anybody that we've, you know, showed it to. So much fun. Every day, you know, have something that you're so excited to work on and implement the skills that you've just spent a ton of time and ton of money learning and and, you know, grasping. And then to be able to implement that into something that you're passionate about is the key to building anything.
