From Banking to Tech: Ken's Bootcamp Experience

You need to know bare bones of software development to be a product manager because you're pushing the product and you can't speak about it, then what's the point? Yeah, I'm Ken, and I've been working at a bank for the last ten years. I actually graduated college in twenty twelve, so very, very long time ago for graphic design. That is sitting on my parents' fireplace right now, doing nothing. Last year, I was I kind of want to do something with computers and designing because I've always had that knack. I did some of it in high school because my school offered computer development back in two thousand and seven. So I was like, all right, let me just apply to Fullstack. And through a friend's recommendation, I got accepted. When Tyler brought me in was there was a big hurdle for me, obviously, and a big hurdle for a lot of the class because you're going from learning JavaScript, CSS, React, and all these really efficient ways of learning to something that's a whole different warp speed in a different direction. And you're getting thrown these websites that are very antiquated. Like if you go to like the other competitors, they're like fifteen years old, some of them, and you have to raw code or know essentially how to raw code. So having known a lot of people, including myself with learning disabilities and stuff like that, this is something that was very important for me that Tyler brought me in to do is like, hey, now it's a visual learning platform to teach you in the correct order of things. I would say working in the banking financial industry for over a decade at this point, strict scheduling, keeping a structure every single day, privacy and everything like that with customers working with very large clientele to small everything matters like bringing in that kind of a structure environment would be a very, very big skill that I would say like brought me here because I am the one that maintains our schedules for releases. I also work really hard at product management where we are consistently doing weekly meetups, the three of us, where we do updates, things that went wrong the week prior, testimonials, things like that. Some very tight end. So that really helps a lot when you do a lot of structured stuff. Career success, one hundred. If you reach out to them during your boot camp or after your boot camp, you absolutely utilize it from ground up. It's been amazing. Your teachers are really, really good in full stack. Like that's something I can't stress enough. Don't be afraid to talk to those that know more and just get an idea or an opinion of what you could do better if you already have this bare bones. But if you don't have bare bones, write it down, make it yours, and then just start looking up how to do it. And then as you develop it, you might find that person that wants to do it with you. Or if you have someone in mind, just talk to them. It's how this started. I'm kinda gonna quote Spider Man on this. Don't be afraid to take a leap of faith. Like, if you really have an idea and you really not even just with, like, a startup, but, like, boot camp in a hole, like, if you really wanna do it, take that leap. It's worth it.
