Why Should Veterans Pursue a Career in Tech?

There’s a growing demand for savvy tech professionals across all industries. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates roles for cybersecurity analysts will grow by 25% and software developers by 35% between 2021 and 2031, exceeding the average growth rate of 5%.

Veterans develop sought-after technical acumen and skills during military service that can transfer into a tech career. Through the Fullstack Academy Tech Bootcamps, you’ll expand on your military experience and develop additional skills to help you land a fulfilling career.

    What Are VET TEC Benefits?

The Veteran Employment Through Technology Education Courses (VET TEC) program aims to help military veterans gain the skills, knowledge, and experience to break into high-demand tech fields, like software engineering, cybersecurity, and data analytics. VET TEC benefits can be used to help pay for in-demand training from an approved provider, such as Fullstack Academy.

In order to receive VET TEC benefits, you need to meet specific requirements. Visit the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website to see if you’re eligible.

How Veterans Can Leverage Their Soft Skills

    • Communication

    • Critical thinking

    • Problem-solving

    • Time management

    • Resourcefulness

At Fullstack Academy, we understand the growing importance of soft skills in the workplace, which is why we factor soft skill development into our bootcamps. VET TEC Benefits

    For Impacted Codeup Bootcamp Students

With the recent news that Codeup is closing its doors, Fullstack Academy is here to support impacted students so they can still earn a high-quality tech education. The Department of Veteran Affairs is allowing former Codeup bootcamp students who were using VET TEC benefits to reenroll their benefits into another approved training program, like Fullstack Academy, before March 18, 2024. We still have available spots for former Codeup students using VET TEC benefits in our upcoming February and March 2024 cohorts. Start by filling out a free online application.

Current Status of the VET TEC Program

The VET TEC program is temporarily pausing enrollment certifications due to funds running low. As a result, we are unable to enroll students who wish to use VET TEC benefits at this time.

VET TEC is currently operating as a pilot initiative, and we are at risk of losing the valuable opportunities that VET TEC can provide you and other veterans around the country.

If you are interested in using VET TEC benefits for bootcamp, we recommend applying for your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to signal your interest in the VET TEC program to Veteran Affairs. We also strongly encourage you to write a letter to your senators advocating for the passage of the VET TEC Authorization Act of 2023 which will make the VET TEC program permanent. You can use the following link to locate the contact information for your state's Senators: Find Your Senator.

They gave me a realistic timeline of when I might be able to land a job—and it was within 4 months for me. I was in constant communication with the Fullstack Academy support team, and they responded quickly. They helped me in tremendous ways—whether it was preparing for interviews, doing mock interviews, learning how to research companies, tailoring my resume, or preparing for technical interviews.”

    • Cory Gold
“My time at Fullstack Academy was a blend of exciting triumphs and tough trials. A standout moment was the final project week before the group projects, a high-intensity stretch where I put all my learning into action. Throughout this journey, my wife's unwavering support – recognizing my dedication to the program – and the camaraderie with fellow learners played an integral role in my achievements. After graduation, I embarked on an exciting path and landed a key role in a startup, Text2Order, as well as a position at Multiverse as a Software Engineering Coach.”
