A Day in the Life of a Fullstack Cyber Student

Full-Time Cybersecurity Bootcamp – 13 Weeks

Full-Time: 10am-6pm | Monday through Friday

  • 9:30AM

    Morning Review

    Your morning starts with an optional review session to answer questions from the prior day. Your Fullstack Cyber Instructor leads the class through the prior day’s workshop, live demonstrations, and takes questions along the way.

  • 10AM

    Lecture & Live Demonstrations

    This portion of the day starts with a 45-minute live lecture and demonstration covering the previous night’s homework, led by your instructor.

  • 12:45AM

    Workshop

    After the lecture, you’ll go into the workshop, pairing up with another student to tackle a set of exercises designed by your instructor. Workshops allow you to put into practice the skills you learned from morning lecture and the previous night’s homework. The workshops are challenging and often go deeper than some of the areas covered in the related lecture. If your team needs help solving a challenge during the workshop, a Teaching Fellow will be there to assist. At the end of the workshop, students discuss the activity with the larger class.

  • 1PM

    Lunch and Fitness Break

    Students use this free time to recharge. In many cohorts, students choose to have weekly lunches with their Fellow and a group of classmates to catch up on the week.

  • 2:30PM

    Lecture & Live Demonstrations

    After lunch, your instructor will teach another 45-minute live lecture and demonstration introducing a new topic or set of skills.

  • 3:15PM

    Workshop

    Collaboration and teamwork is essential to thriving in a cybersecurity career, so during the afternoon session you’ll once again pair up with another student. Together, you’ll solve challenges designed specifically for the material just covered in lecture. During this time a Teaching Fellow is available to help you through any problems you may get stuck on. The workshop closes with a class discussion.

  • 5:30PM

    Wrap Up & Review

    At the end of the day, your instructor touches base on what was covered that day and makes sure students have a clear understanding of the night’s homework.

    During this time, your Fullstack Cyber Instructor addresses any questions from the previous class.

    Following the recap, class time pivots to a live demonstration and lecture that covers the key points from the homework.

    Workshop

    During workshops, you’ll pair up with another student to tackle a set of exercises designed by your instructor. Workshops allow you to put into practice the skills and concepts covered in the lecture and homework. If your team needs help solving a challenge during the workshop, your Fullstack Cyber Teaching Fellow is there to assist. At the end of the workshop, students discuss the activity with the larger class, and the instructor answers any outstanding questions.

    Review + Class Activity

    At the end of the day, your instructor touches base on what was learned during the previous week and makes sure students have a clear understanding of the upcoming homework. Part-Time students also use this time to engage in relationship-building activities with classmates.

  • What is the application process for Fullstack Cyber Bootcamp?

    Like our curriculum, our application process is streamlined—to get started, complete your application. From there, you’ll take a 30-minute, open-book logic-based assessment (find tips here). Within a few business days, you’ll receive an admissions decision.

    Keep in mind that at any point in the process, you can schedule a time to speak with a Student Advisor (SA). SAs are dedicated to making sure you feel confident entering your cybersecurity training by answering any questions along the way.

  • Do you get a certificate for completing the program?

    Yes, graduates earn a certificate of completion issued by Fullstack Academy.

  • Does the cybersecurity bootcamp prepare students for industry certification exams?

    Yes. Fullstack Cyber Bootcamp grads will be equipped to take these certifications: Sec+, AWS Cloud Practitioner, Splunk Core Certified User.

    With some extra studying, grads can work towards taking: CySA+, CISSP Associate, GSEC, OSCP, AWS SysOps, AWS Cloud Security Specialist

  • Can I keep working while studying in the program?

    Part-Time students often continue working full-time while completing the bootcamp. Keep in mind, however, that there are 10 hours in class with an additional 5-10 hours of homework each week.

    Full-Time students do not continue working due to the immersive nature of the Fullstack Cyber Bootcamp. By focusing solely on their training, they’re set up to thrive in the expedited 13-week training. See a full-time daily schedule, and learn about one full-time student’s daily experience.

  • Do I need to have my own laptop/computer in order to do the program, and if so, what are the system requirements?

    Yes – all students must have their own laptop (or desktop for 100% online classes). We recommend having a machine with at least 8 GB RAM and ~50-100 GB storage. Netbooks, thin clients and tablets are not permitted. Mac or Windows is fine, but please note that the new Apple M1 processor is not yet fully supported.

  • How do Fullstack's online cybersecurity classes work?
